Te Rā Tuatahi
Day 1
Waipoua Forest, Manea to Ngāwhā Springs.
Rise early, departing with your Kaiārahi to the heart of Waipoua - domain of Tāne Mahuta - the giant kauri of the forest. An inviting welcome by your haukainga awaits, revealing the story of Creation, from Te Kore, the very beginning of time. As the first light appears you become a silent witness to the mesmerising dawn chorus by the “children of Tāne”. Return to your accommodation for parakuihi (breakfast) and the chance for rest and reflection.
Rejoin your Kaiārahi as you make your way to Mānea. Here, your haukāinga share the immersive journey of migration ventured by our tūpuna to reach this great land. Uri (descendants) present stories and enact the great trials together with victories which befell our tūpuna in laying the foundation of our descent, drawing you ever closer to Te Tihi Ao - a wonderful experience to behold!
On completion, relax with a beachside lunch or head to the Rawene Boatshed before travelling to the heart of Ngāpuhi - Ngāwhā Springs - where your haukāinga skilfully weave the threads of our connection to one another. You’ll have the chance to bathe in the healing waters of Ngāwhā, soothing away the long day before continuing to your destination.

Day 2
Waiomio Glow Worm Caves to Te Ahurea.
Arriving in the Waiomio Valley, you’ll be welcomed by the spectacular sight of limestone formations together with the haukāinga of this place. Join your Kaiārahi on a hīkoi (walk) through the Waiomio Glowworm Caves as you learn about the many stories of the tūpuna who settled and made the area home. Carved over millennia, Waiomio is home to the luminescent light of the glow worms, endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand.
Head to Kerikeri for lunch before arriving at Te Ahurea, where you’ll be met by the descendants of great Ngāpuhi chiefs. Here, an interactive afternoon provides the opportunity to hear about our rich history whilst learning traditional methods and techniques, we continue to use today. Paddle waka (canoe), take part in a pōwhiri, raranga and rongoā Māori.
